What is there for my children?

Children are precious to us.  That's why we work hard to provide programming for them that is fun and meaningful.  We love our teachers – and they love the little ones.  You can be confident that your child will have a great experience on Sunday mornings. You will find an age appropriate class for all children.  A nursery is provided during the worship services for pre-school aged children - or young children may attend service with their parents.  School-aged children attend the worship service with their parents.  Every worship service also features "Children's Time" with a special message crafted by our ministerial staff for our youngest members.

What should I wear?

Come as you are!  No need to  worry about what to wear to church, you will fit in just fine whether you come in jeans and a t-shirt, polo and khakis, or a suit and tie.  We are more interested in your presence with us than what you are wearing.

Who will I meet?

On a typical Sunday, you'll see all kinds of people - parents  with young children, singles and married couples, senior adults hanging out with good friends – and everyone enjoying the time to reconnect with their church family.  Park Road really is a multi-generational, open and affirming, community with members and visitors at every stage of life.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT ON SUNDAYS
AT PARK ROAD

A progressive theology we believe reflects the inclusiveness taught by Jesus

An opportunity to learn with others how to follow Jesus in today’s world

A traditional, thoughtfully structured worship service designed to provide a firm foundation for our spiritual life

A warmth and strong sense of community that connects us all during worship

A message that is relevant to your life – with hope and encouragement, not fear and admonishment

Friendly people

Creative and meaningful  kids' ministry

A wide range of attire from coats/ties and dresses,  to jeans and t-shirts.   Be comfortable – we are simply glad to have you with us.

People of all ages.  Park Road is a decidedly inter-generational church that embraces the experience and wisdom of our older members, as well as the energy and creativity of our younger members.  We believe that the age diversity gives us a richness and depth of experience you can’t find with only people your own age.

Our Purpose

At Park Road, our purpose as a church is summed up very simply in our Mission and Vision Statements:

Mission Statement:
“To grow closer to God and serve others within a welcoming Christian community.”

Vision Statement:
“Our vision is a world in which people do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.”

There is not a "one size fits all" mentality at Park Road.  Each of us is on a unique path.  What we do share however, is a willingness to love and support one another as we work to grow closer to God and serve others while helping to build a better world for all peoples.

For some of us, it’s been a while since we’ve been to church.  Perhaps you have your doubts about Christianity, or maybe you got turned off by “organized” religion and stopped going to church.   Maybe you attend church but are looking for a community that is a better “fit” for your or your family.

Regardless of where you are in your spiritual journey, there is probably someone at Park Road who has walked the same path as you.  At Park Road, giving voice to questions, doubts,  and disappointments is not just accepted, it is encouraged.   We will provide the space where discovery, revelation, understanding, and acceptance are possible – in a way that helps you make sense of the chaos that seems to surround us in our daily lives.

So … you are invited to come see for yourself.  No matter what you look like, whom you love, how you vote, or where you’ve been in the past, we believe that there’s a place for you at Park Road.

Get INvolved with Park Road

How can I get involved?

Being at Park Road means much more than just sitting in a seat on Sunday mornings.  Our members are extremely active with missions and ministries.  We have many opportunities for you to practice your faith, grow in relationships and be involved in our church.

You will find more details about how you can be directly involved here.   Or feel free to contact the church office.  We are happy to help you connect.

Park Road has a place for you to share your skills, gifts and passions.

How do I join Park Road?

Prospective members are invited to walk to the front of the sanctuary to talk with one of our ministers during the response time at the end of any morning worship service. That is the predominant way people have joined our church, and we encourage this because it allows church members to begin getting to know new members. That public expression, however, is not necessary if it is intimidating to you, and some members choose not to join in this manner.

If you are interested in joining our team and becoming a member of our church, the first step is to meet one of our ministers. They are readily available following our Sunday morning worship services or by appointment throughout the week. You can usually find our pastors around the front of the sanctuary after the morning worship service or at the Welcome Center. You can also indicate your interest on the “Getting Acquainted Card” found in the pew racks.

Want to know More?

Contact our Visitor Welcoming Action Team. Everyone at our church was new at one time or another, so we remember what it's like. To make your visit easier, we have members who are part of our Welcome Team to greet you and to answer any questions you may have. They are located at the entrance of our building every Sunday. They can point you in the right direction, help you get your children to the right location, and provide you with information about our various ministries.
