A handful of Churches plan to open their doors at 6:30pm on the day the verdict is announced.

"An opportunity for the faith community to gather together," said Dr. Russ Dean of Park Road Baptist Church. "And for people to express their concerns, to express any of their responses to the verdict, concerns where we're moving as a city beyond the verdict."

Dr Dean said 20 Churches in the Charlotte Clergy Coalition for Justice are involved.

Five churches in different parts of the city will open to the public:

Little Rock AME Zion Church on North McDowell Street, Antioch Baptist Church on Skyland Ave, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on The Plaza, First Baptist Church West on Oaklawn Ave, and Mayfield Memorial Baptist Church on W Sugar Creek Road - will open their doors for the day of the verdict gathering.
