Active Volunteer Opportunities
Park Road participates directly in the following programs:
Hunger for Justice Events – December 5
Nourish Up
Our Hunger for Justice Day schedule of events begins with church volunteers delivering groceries for Nourish Up. We will need 7 drivers and preferably each driver will have a passenger in their car to help them, so 14 volunteers. Each car will deliver a week’s supply of groceries to 4 to 6 different families. The estimated time needed to make the deliveries is 1 to 2 hours. Participants need to be able to carry boxes multiple times that may weigh up to 25 pounds. We can meet at the church at 9:15a. or at the Nourish Up warehouse by 9:45 that morning, 901 Carrier Dr., Charlotte, 28216.
You can sign up by emailing info@ParkRoadBaptist.org, in Helt Hall on Sunday Morning, or by clicking on the button below.
Food Boxes for Starmount Academy
Starmount Academy has identified 18 families with unstable housing who would benefit from a generous supply of non-perishable food. December 5 is a Fun Food Friday, so the plan is to return to the church after lunch and begin packing the Starmount food boxes at 1:30 that afternoon. Everyone who is available that afternoon is, of course, welcome to come to lunch and/or to join in the packing! You can sign up by emailing info@ParkRoadBaptist.org, in Helt Hall on Sunday Morning, or by clicking on the button below.
Rise Against Hunger
Our Hunger for Justice Day activities will conclude with a Rise Against Hunger packing event in the Community Center, beginning at 6:30p. The plan is to pack 15,000 meals that will be sent to an overseas location where food is scarce, and hunger is an everyday crisis. About 10 volunteers will be needed to set up at 5:00 and, with 60 volunteers to do the packing, it should take about 2 hours. The more the merrier! You can sign up by emailing info@ParkRoadBaptist.org, in Helt Hall on Sunday Morning, or by clicking on the button below.
Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
Room In The Inn Volunteers
help host at Myers Park United Methodist Church
Park Road has supported Roof Above's RITI program for several decades. This is a great opportunity for your family, Sunday School class, coworkers, and neighbors to come together and help some of the unhoused people in our city. This year, we will host at Myers Park United Methodist Church on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from December 2025 through March 2026. They are sharing their beautiful new facility with us on the nights when we will be offering our 12 unhoused guests a warm bed, a hot shower, a delicious evening meal, a quick breakfast and a bag lunch. On the dates when we host, we need 10-12 volunteers each night. Our first opportunity to host at MPUMC is fast-approaching. Please find a place where you can plug in to support this vital ministry.
Toiletries Request for Room in the Inn
We are fortunate to have a group of ladies who do an excellent job of creating a warm and welcoming environment for our Room in the Inn guests. One of the things they provide for our guests is a bag of toiletries. The contents of the bags are currently in short supply, and we will need 100 of each of the following items to get us through this Room in the Inn season: quart-sized zip-lock bags, individually wrapped toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, hand cream, bath soap (e.g. hotel soap), hand sanitizers, small Kleenex packages, pencils and notepads, and disposable razors. Please donate small, travel-sized items in Helt Hall or bring them to the church office.

Starmont Elementary Back-to-School Amazon Wishlist
It may be hard to believe, but in just a couple of weeks, CMS teachers will be heading back to school, readying their classrooms for their students in the new year ahead. We at PRBC have a wonderful opportunity to help make things a little easier for our friends at Starmount Elementary! Principal Collins has provided us with a link to Starmount’s Amazon wish list and would appreciate any donations our church family could make. It couldn’t be more simple! If you would like to support this effort, just click on the link provided, browse the list and make your selection. The beauty of this is that your gift will be sent directly to Starmount! Thanks in advance for your generosity! Click Here to see their wishlist.
Book Drive Volunteers: Book-A-Palooza 2025-2026 School year
Park Road has been partnering with Starmount Academy of Excellence (PreK-5) for over a year. Starmount is a CMS Title I school with a Hispanic population of over 70%. One of the premier events PRBC sponsors is a Book-A-Palooza event where students at Starmount will be able to select 3 new or like new books from our inventory to keep for themselves for free. Volunteers are needed to help transport the books from Park Road to Starmount and unpack them, to assist students in selecting books, and to pack up the remaining books, and to transport them back to church.
